My Christian husband left me four and a half years ago to live with another woman who also had left her husband and family to live with my husband. He had only known her eleven to twelve weeks. We had been married for nearly twenty-eight years. You can imagine the pain, betrayal, loneliness, intimidation, sadness, heartache, lack of self respect and lack of confidence that followed. All kinds of emotions I had to go through and sometimes still do experience. I divorced my husband after two years, although not willingly, and he married this woman later.

It has been such a long, long journey for me and I feel I have walked through virgin territory because there were very few who could understand or help me because they had never been through such an experience. In fact, the area where I live had not encountered a Christian divorce before.

I took Jeremiah 29:11 as my verse, and I claimed the promise for myself. Even after four and a half years I can still get upset, especially when I see my ex-husband with his new wife. Yet I do feel that God is doing a great work of healing within me.

Total forgiveness is something that God is still working on in my life. Yet I believe that even this hard wound is healing. I now pray, help and advise others who are going through such a crisis in their lives. I often cry with them because I know the pain that they are going through and experiencing. Unfortunately, unlike a death, it does not finish or end because your ex is still walking in this world and that you have to face, somehow.

I still have so much love to give and feel I am ready to meet that special man who God is preparing. I believe that God has a master plan that He is going to unfold in my life. One precious thing which I treasure is that God, through this situation, has become so real to me. He is my close friend and confidant.
